CONCERTO FESTIVAL 2008

A full professional symphony orchestra was engaged to accompany the top
five "classical" music students from SACS High. These young gents
acquitted themselves admirably! The works performed were:
Sam Wegener (Gr. 11) has composed an Overture (4 Mb of Mp3) which opened the concert.
Haydn: Trumpet Concerto FIRST MOVEMENT (6 Mb of Mp3); SECOND MOVEMENT (4 Mb of Mp3) - Soloist: Murray Meissner
David: Trombone Concertino SECOND MOVEMENT (4 Mb of Mp3); THIRD MOVEMENT (4 Mb of Mp3) - Soloist: Joseph Macmillan

Kabalevsky: Piano Concerto No. 3 (Mvt. 1) - Soloist: Blake Hellaby (7 Mb of Mp3)
SACS is exceptionally fortunate to own a beautiful Steinway Model D Concert
Grand which is kept in pristine condition by Garth Hammer of
Ian Burgess-Simpson
Pianos.

A wonderfully supportive audience encouraged the performers. An email
received the morning after reads as follows:
Dear John,
A magnificent success. You and Greta deserve the highest congratulations. I
think you achieved something which no other school in the country has done. I
hope you manage to keep it going. Your headmaster must be very proud!
